Adult Diapers: Controlling the Odor in the House
If you are the caregiver for someone with incontinence or are dealing with incontinence yourself, you may find that one of the major challenges is making sure that the odors from incontinence products and accidents do not become a fixture in your home. This can be a difficult when trying to manage the many issues that come with incontinence. However, the good news is that there are some simple steps that you can take that will reduce or eliminate the odors in your house.
It is important to set a procedure for disposing of soiled adult diapers. One of the major problems in dealing with incontinence is that using adult diapers can leave your home smelling less then pleasant if you are not careful about how they are disposed. You want to make sure that you are handling and disposing of them in a way that will reduce the chances of unpleasant odors becoming a part of the home. This will not only make your home more pleasant for you but also for anyone who may be coming over. There are several different ways that you can handle this but some are more effective then others.
One of the easiest ways to handle the odor caused by adult diapers is to invest in small garbage bags, a diaper pail and a lot of newspaper. After removing the soiled adult diaper it should be rolled up tightly, wrapped very well in newspaper, and then put into a small trash bag that is then tied. After this procedure is done the adult diaper is then put into the diaper pail (and the lid should be tightly closed). While this may seem like a great deal of work keep in mind that this is one of the best ways to prevent the odor from permeating the house. The newspaper will absorb the odor that the diaper puts out, and then tying it up in the garbage bag will provide another barrier that the odor has to get through. Then the lid on the diaper pail will provide additional protection against odor seepage.
